CrossRoads in South Africa |
Our CrossRoads coordinators in Durban, South Africa have reported to us that: “After no consistent school for a week, the public services workers national strike was declared Tuesday, August 17. Over 1 million public service workers are on strike and the schools have been hit the hardest. We have not been able to hold classes or adequately contact students for camp. There are also unknowns in security and safety if we were to try and gather 70 high school and university students and staff together for a day. We’ve had to postpone it to Sat., October 16 in order to get all the participants together.”
Please pray:
for the strike to be over soon and all issues to be adequately resolved;
that people would look to God to meet their needs rather than seek political solutions;
that the ministry would have a sufficient number of classes in Durban to complete the Sex in Perspective lessons. Their classes finish near the end of October so the students can prepare for a month of year end exams;
for the effectiveness of our coordinator's traction treatment this week and full recovery. He is scheduled for four days traction in hospital, Aug. 26-29, to try and release his neck. He will follow up with daily traction at home.

CrossRoads in Philippines Update |
Philippines - Update
Thank you for your prayers! Here are a few highlights from the very successful Training in Quezon City:
Fifty high school principals and dept heads came to the “Intro to CrossRoads” seminar. Most showed great interest in both the content of CrossRoads and the interactive/cooperative teaching methodology. They seemed eager to support their teachers in using the curriculum in their schools.
Among the evaluation comments afterwards, “I feel like I have been born again, and I want Christ to always be at the center of my life.” (Probably 85% of those who attended came from non-Evangelical backgrounds.)
The acting Superintendent of Schools for the National Capital Region and the Supervisor of Values Education for Quezon city attended and gave strong endorsements. |

The first half of the Quezon City Teachers’ Training is complete. Here are some praises and prayer requests:
Praises:
110 teachers and medical professionals came to the training;
Three key Dept. of Education administrators welcomed us and sat in on the training. Dr. Rubio, the acting superintendent, gave a very profound charge to the teachers to care for their students.
After observing the morning sessions, Dr. Rubio said she wanted the Training team to give an “Intro to CrossRoads” to all her Quezon City high school principals.
This was probably the most animated, engaged group any of us has seen at a TT.
All the elements of the conference ran smoothly and there was uninterrupted electrical power.
Prayer:
This Thursday morning the Training team will conduct a half-day “Introduction to CrossRoads” seminar for all 47 Quezon City HS principals plus 33 supervisors, division heads, and department heads. Pray for wisdom and God’s empowering as they present CrossRoads.
Health for the training team members; everybody is very tired.
For discussion group leaders to establish good relationships with teachers in their groups; that the relationships will continue after the training.
For wisdom in communicating and working with the leadership of the Department of Education.
Continual electrical power.
Wisdom in selecting trainer candidates and for next steps in developing Filipino trainers.

On June 7 & 14 we emailed requests about two upcoming Teachers Trainings (TT) in the Philippines. The first of the two trainings ended Sat, 7/31. Below are some of the answers to prayer:
The training went very well – great spirit & engagement among participants;
40 high school teachers & college instructors attended. Western Philippines Univ. sent 10 instructors. They started using CrossRoads over the last year and have seen the positive difference it makes in students’ lives. Now they want the students in every department to go through Life at the Crossroads;
They did have electrical power the entire time!
The practicum time at Western Philippines University went exceptionally well;
They have four potential trainers from the host organization – 3 medical doctors and 1 educator.
Please be in prayer for these requests:
For the faithfulness of the trainees to begin teaching CrossRoads in their school or college.
That there would be faithful follow-up of the new trainees who expressed spiritual interest;
A life change among instructors & students as they teach & learn about Jesus;
For the final preparations of the Quezon City training, Aug. 7- 9. They expect over 100 participants from all 47 public high schools, plus other groups. Pray for the right people to attend & God to overcome any barriers to coming;
That there would be uninterrupted electrical power throughout the entire conference;
For good weather during the conference – no typhoons!

Our greetings from Kigali the capital city of Rwanda. We praise the Lord for what He has done in our ministry and nation. Fifteen years after the genocide of Tutsis in 1994, the country has been raised from the grave because of good leadership. God raised up men who shaped the nation and put everything in line.
Today Rwanda enjoys good governance, Zero Tolerance Corruption, good protection of the environment, etc. We cannot say all is perfect, but it does offer a good model to follow.
Now after the initial mandate, we have elections for a new president on August 9.There are four candidates for president, so we pray that God will help our people to make the right choice. We have seen in the past that in situations like this people don’t look for at the performance of the candidate but sometimes are guided instead by other issues that have no relationship to leading the country, dealing with things that bring about a backslide in the counrty, address conflicts, etc. This is why we need your prayers that our people have God's wisdom to make a good choice. Thank you for your support in prayer! |

That other teachers and administrators would see the value of CrossRoads and request it to be taught in their own schools and classrooms.
-
For the Spirit to move among the teachers, students and the communities where CrossRoads is taught.

CrossRoads in Togo |
The Campus Crusade staff in Togo is meeting together this month for spiritual refreshment, hearing from their leadership and to plan for the coming year. CrossRoads has been invited to come and present our strategy and materials to help them process how they may use CrossRoads to enhance and develop their ministries. Please pray for:
- CrossRoads Lead Trainers for Francophone Africa, as they prepare to conduct a seminar presenting CrossRoads.
- Wisdom and direction for the Francophone Africa Strategy Coordinator as he will, via Skype, help those Lead Trainers to prepare their seminar.
- The Togolese staff to clearly understand how various aspects of the CrossRoads strategy and/or materials can help them in their ministries.
- Their efforts to incorporate CrossRoads to help build multiplication into their ministries.
- Other staff teams in other countries to hear about the effectiveness of the CrossRoads strategy and to request CrossRoads in their countries.
Campus Crusade is currently in the midst of a major restructuring of its leadership on the global, regional and country levels. Please pray for:
- God’s wisdom and direction for all these leaders.
- The critical decisions being made concerning personnel and reporting relationships. Pray for the right people and the right alignment of people.
- God’s peace for all staff members as they wait on God and the leadership to make these decisions.
- Staff and volunteers to continue in effective ministry in the midst of the unknown.
- These changes to result in much greater potential for multiplying ministry.

The JESUS Film Project®

July 1, 2010
Thank you for praying for the dubbing of Magdalena: Released From Shame into Tanzanian earlier this month.
The recording team returned last week and could tell people were praying. The recording equipment arrived safely and worked well. The voice actors were well-prepared for their parts and the recording team stayed healthy.
Pray for those in the studio who are now finalizing the product by “mixing” in the music and other sound effects.
Pray that the national staff will have a God-sized vision for how to use this film to reach Swahili speakers throughout Tanzania and the world. |

CrossRoads in Bloemfontein, South Africa |
Bloemfontein, Free State, has a team of CrossRoads certified trainers. Please pray for the following:
· All of the trainers are busy professionals with families, but they also want to have an important impact through CrossRoads. Pray for wisdom, physical energy, and spiritual empowering as they seek to balance family, regular career, and ministry through CrossRoads.
· In recent months the Bloemfontein team has initiated a strategy through the University of Bloemfontein (where a couple of them teach). They have conducted two Teacher Trainings with Education and Psychology Department students. The students in turn are teaching LATC in schools in Bloemfontein and nearby townships as their community project. Pray for life change on the part of the student teachers through their engagement with CrossRoads – that those who don’t know Christ will receive Him.
· Pray that many of the university students who have been trained will catch the vision to continue to use CrossRoads after they graduate – either full time, as teachers, or on a volunteer basis.
· Pray that the many high school students who are taught LATC will experience changed lives – especially as they find a personal relationship with Christ.
· Pray for the ongoing impact of CrossRoads in Bloemfontein schools through teachers who have been trained over the last few years.
· Pray for God to raise up more laborers to work alongside this team. |
